Vermouth di Torino Rosso made with 100 Langhe DOC Freisa wine.
Aroma: The use of herbs and spices gives a significant intensity and it is immediately perceived that it is vermouth with “body” – not only suitable for classic mixing but also recommended as a meditation wine. Natural extracts of elderberry and sage are immediately recognized. Through the tasting, the aroma of cherries will be felt, and one also senses the presence of lightly roasted wood.
Taste: You sense a classic almost “old school” red vermouth with notes of cherry, orange, and sage. Bitter herbs dominate over spices (most of all pink pepper) while making room for fruit: the sweetness of the wild cherry, the sour but delicate currants, and the freshness of sweet orange. In general, the taste is intense, but also quite soft. This Vermouth’s strong personality is also due to the lively life of the bass wine, a Langhe DOC Freisa.
Recommended tasting glass: Tumbler.
Pairings: Used historically and re-evaluated today as an ingredient in Italian cuisine (in the classic broth, in desserts, or for the quick “nuance” in connection with meat). The vermouth can be enjoyed simply with good chocolate; Whether it is 75% dark chocolate or with candied fruit, or perhaps with orange, reminiscent of the presence of the same in vermouth, it’s important that it is of excellent quality. A never banal but always special combination, a good Piemonte-gianduiotto chocolate that brings us back with sweet nostalgia to the old and majestic Turin.
